Abstract :
In this paper, we discuss on resource management functionality in a multimedia broadband access network (MBAN), which accommodates various subscriber interfaces. One of the considerable issues in the MBAN is sufficient use of the bandwidth on connections between access nodes and service nodes. We focus of usage parameter control (UPC) mechanisms and dynamic bandwidth allocation schemes. In the UPC comparison, we show that the newly proposed pseudo-jumping window is by no means inferior to the well-known leaky bucket regarding to its policing performance. In the bandwidth allocation issue, on the other hand, several schemes are evaluated such as bandwidth renegotiation and fast resource management
