  • Abstract
PDDP, a Fortran preprocessor under development at LLNL, is directed to a massively parallel machine with loosely coupled distributed shared memory. Using Fortran 90 array syntax and a Fortran D method of distribution, PDDP achieves a semiautomatic parallelization and offers the convenience of programming a shared virtual address space. The backend for PDDP is PFP, a split-join model also in the form of a Fortran preprocessor, that uses the team concept of parallel computing. The BBN TC2000 computer is the developmental platform for PDDP. Initial timings show a definite improvement of performance over a configuration in which the shared data are distributed by normal system interleaving procedures
