  • Abstract
The integration of renewable energy sources in island grids can be one solution to reduce the yearly amount for diesel, oil or gas consumption for power generation. It reduces also the dependency on supply shortage or price peaks caused by political or seasonal up and downs. A higher penetration of renewable energy sources especially in an autonomous grid leads to problems caused by the variations in the energy supply. The integration of a storage system is a common solution to increase the share of renewables in power generation. The paper deals with the integration and the management of a new pumped hydro power station and additional wind energy converters in a wind-diesel system of a Greek island.
