Abstract :
Summary form only given, as follows. treated using two kinds of high impulse current. One was generated under a rod-rod electrode; the other was under a needle-plate electrode. Several parameters such as dilution factor, COD, BOD5 etc., were investigated; then the ability of decolorizing the dye wastewater was tested. The results show that the chemical structure of dyes was destroyed mostly due to the strong shock waves, 03 and UV-light produced by impulse discharge. (1) The disperse dye wastewater can be decolorized efficiently for a rod-rod electrode case with repeated 8.5kv voltage of 64ns width and 7.8kA peak current. After treated by a rod-rod electrode, COD of the disperse dye wastewater reduced greatly, and BOD5 of the disperse dye wastewater increased. When COD and the color of the disperse dye wastewater were 150mg/l and 2000 (dilution factor) respectively, effluent of the process can meet the demand of Effluent Standards. (2) Both the direct dye wastewater and reactive dye wastewater can be decolorized dramatically using a needle-plate electrode. But COD increase greatly with the color reducing significantly. When COD and the color of the direct dyes wastewater were 86mg/l and 2000 respectively, COD and the color of effluent of the process were 502mg/l and 20.When COD and the color of the reactive dyes wastewater were 95mg/l and 2250 respectively, COD and the color of effluent of the process were 590mgA and 18.
