Abstract :
The paper describes three case studies of distribution network planning focused on the comparison of different alternatives that include traditional network reinforcements and innovative active management of the system. The three distribution networks have been chosen in the database made available by the Italian ATLANTIDE project. The networks are representative of generic Italian rural, industrial and urban ambits and they are derived from real distribution systems. From these business cases several remarks for planning active distribution networks can be discussed.
