Abstract :
Breuer-Motoren was founded in 1877 in Bochum, Germany. With the inception and subsequent growth of the AC electric motors, Breuer has developed into one of the premier manufacturer of custom AC motors for the mining industry. On a worldwide basis, Breuer is well known for its experience in the mining industry and as a technological leader in AC motor development. Breuer-Motoren works closely with the customers to provide solutions for many difficult applications. This paper describes Breuer-Motoren´s variable speed drive technology for mining. The VSD was designed with at least a 1140 VAC power supply. Further, in the mining industry, we have to expect difficult environmental conditions such as moisture, vibration, heat, and dust. As a result, all parts of Breuer´s VSD motor are assembled in a flameproof enclosure, the components are not easily accessible. As an advantage, there is no necessity to maintain or to adjust components in the VSD motor
