Abstract
This paper reviews the general techniques used by the author´s companies for assessing the condition and reliability of aging switchgear and electrical systems. The paper describes the reasons for performing such analysis, the costs involved and related benefits, the general methodology used for performing such analysis, and issues that have been discovered in the process of evaluating systems. The techniques described are based on existing proven technology that has been developed and in evaluating aging switchgear, and existing reliability and risk assessment technology that has been developed and used in analyzing electrical systems
