  • Abstract
Multi-code (MC) access and variable-spreading-length (VSL) access are two widely applied realizations for multi-data-rate services in direct-sequence code-division multiple-access (DS/CDMA) systems. We study the behavior of these two multi-rate realizations operating in multi-path fading channels. Bounds of the minimum probability of error based on maximum-likelihood sequence detection are developed for performance evaluations. Asymptotic multiuser efficiency is also analyzed as another performance index
