Abstract :
The paper introduces a new technique that can accurately evaluate magnitudes of instantaneous and RMS values of current and voltage. Existing AC RMS measuring methods require a number of successive measurements and an averaging technique to evaluate current and voltage magnitudes, with reduced accuracy for faster evaluations. A new transform has been devised which allows successive measurements at intervals of one millisecond or less to be evaluated between measurements. In spite of the fast measurement intervals, accurate values of currents and voltages can be made and derived quantities such as power can be computed between measurements. The paper describes problems that were overcome for practical implementation
