Abstract
The direct torque control (DTC) system of an induction motor fed with a GTO inverter is introduced in this paper. A kind of stator flux observation model (u-n model) which is suitable in all speed range of the motor is adopted. Due to high power of the electric locomotive inverter, the switch frequency of the GTO inverter is related lower, so different control strategies are employed in different ranges of speed. The simulation of the control system with MATLAB/SIMULINK is made. A prototype has been developed, its control system is based on the digital signal processor TMS320C31 and microcontroller 80C196KC. The debugging and experimental research have been done. The results prove that the control system has good steady and dynamic performances
