Abstract :
In this paper the cell loss ratio (CLR) performance of variable bit rate (VBR) traffic in the wireless ATM access network which consists of the access node and wireless channel is evaluated. The impact of the bit error characteristics of a wireless link in the wireless ATM access networks is focused. A possible error control architecture is also suggested to improve the CLR performance degradation caused by channel bit errors. Selective repeat ARQ is considered as the conventional scheme for VBR traffic and the type I hybrid ARQ is used as the recommended scheme. It is confirmed that the CLR performance of the network with recommended error control scheme is superior to that of a network with the conventional scheme
