Abstract
Avionics systems developed to military standards are becoming very expensive to operate and support. Acquisition reform has eliminated many of these standards and promoted replacement of these aging avionics with commercial off the shelf (COTS) items using an open system architecture where applicable. In order to develop and procure a replacement system, the requirements must be defined. If the original requirements can be found, they must be analyzed to determine whether changes are needed to meet the needs of the end user
