Abstract :
This paper specifies a mechanism of ATM over Ethernet (AOE). By this mechanism, ATM traffic can be carried across an Ethernet. This paper gives a new AOE protocol stack definition, AOE frame formats, topology of AOE switch interface module and procedures of AOE address registration and connection management. The AOE method lets the user keep the existing Ethernet in ATM network and allows multiple ATM hosts to share one switch port
