Abstract
The explosive growth of Internet traffic has made IP routers the bottleneck of the Information Super Highway. In order to improve router performance, many new routing mechanisms have been proposed. Among these technologies, the most popular are Ipsilon´s IP switching, Cisco´s tag switching, IBM´s ARIS and Toshiba´s CSR. This paper concerns the first of these and is mainly interested in simulating the performance of IP switching in some circumstances; the flow algorithm is very important to the IP switching, affecting directly the performance of the IP switch. We analyse some kinds of flow classification, then simulate traffic with priority level in a static algorithm. We analyse the result and it is valuable for multimedia, especially for real time traffic
