Abstract :
The authors present their findings of using the Repertory Grid Technique with over two hundred software practitioners in thirteen UK software companies. They use their findings to establish the ways in which inspections can be optimised to be more effective and successful as software engineering tools. The findings suggest that, contrary to conventional wisdom, developers are very positive about using inspections that generate engineering benefit. Often inspections are implemented in such a way as to only benefit managers
