  • Abstract
In this current period of rapid growth in communications networks, there is a clear need to upgrade the optical layer from a purely transport function. The only technology currently capable of meeting these connectivity and scaling needs is that of arrays of two axis MEMS tilt mirrors. We will present results from various micro-mechanical optical cross connects systems. The cross connect function is achieved using two-axis beam steering micromechanical mirrors which are electrostatically actuated
