Abstract
Dispersion compensating fiber (DCF) is a mature and widely used technology for dispersion compensation. For future ultra-high-capacity systems where dispersion slope compensation is inevitable, DCFs based on standard single-mode operation has been developed for slope compensation of both non-shifted and non-zero dispersion fibers. For cabled applications, special DCFs has been developed, which are foreseen to be used future in submarine applications
