Abstract :
From the control system point of view, a control structure for rate-based congestion control of the ATM layer is proposed. A proportional controller is designed using linear control theory and the stability of the controller and the selection of sampling period are analyzed. Furthermore, the flow control system is a delay system in nature. In this paper, a Smith predictor is applied to compensate the pure delay, and the effect of the delay on the system is analyzed. Finally, the results are extended to the PID flow controller and the control performance is proposed with simulation
