Abstract :
This paper presents some modifications on the embedded zerotree wavelet algorithm (EZW). It is based on the idea of wavelet packets by further dividing the low and high frequency subbands respectively. The importance of subbands in different scales and different orientations to the human vision are taken into account during quantization. By this method, the subjective quality of the reconstructed image is significantly improved
