Abstract :
This study is about the fluctuations of the structures of nonwoven fabrics on certain scales. In a specific way, it is about how to characterize the so-called cloudiness of nonwoven fabrics quantitatively. In terms of image analysis and processing, several characterizations of an image are defined, especially the autocorrelation function for an image. A good estimator of the autocorrelation function is obtained. Based on the parameters of this estimator, we calculate several quantities for the cloudiness of nonwoven fabrics. An alternative quantity to characterize the cloudiness of nonwoven fabrics is found
