Abstract
Presents a new approach for adaptive control of mean blood pressure using vasoactive drugs-sodium nitroprusside (SNP). Postoperative hypertension is common in cardiac patients and untreated hypertensive patients may result in complications. The aim of the controller is to quickly reduce the oscillatory change in mean blood pressure due to infusion of SNP. An adaptive PI controller has been designed. New methods for adaptive PI tuning are proposed. Simulation results under clinical condition show that the control system is effective
