Abstract :
Transmitters and electrical equipment co-located to a radio system can, due to its radiated electromagnetic interference, cause serious degradation on the system performance. In real system design when predicting the performance loss of a system co-located with interfering signals of various signal types, there is a need of simple approximations that simultaneously describe the interference in a proper manner. The commonly used Gaussian approximation is here investigated for some different interfering signal types in a Rayleigh fading environment for a parallel MSK-type receiver. It is shown that the Gaussian approximation works quite well for the chosen interfering signals when only the desired signal is fading and when both desired and interference are fading
