Abstract
Flux switching machines (FSPM) with hybrid excitation (HE) offer some attractive properties, as robust and simple rotor structure, flux control capability, brushless topology, since the excitation winding is mounted on the stator and simple cooling possibilities. This paper compares the properties of a 12/10-pole FSPM with HE and an E-core-FSPM with HE with regard to their flux adjusting capability and torque capability. 2D-finite element (FEM) calculations are performed to underline the presented ideas.
