Abstract :
The matched-filterbank approach to amplitude spectrum estimation has received renewed interest. One such estimator is the amplitude and phase estimation (APES) algorithm, which has been successfully applied to a variety of problems in applications including synthetic aperture (SAR) imaging, biomedical engineering and time-series analysis. We consider the extension of APES to the spectral analysis of gapped data, i.e., to the case when parts of the data are missing. We show how this extension can be done in a most natural manner and demonstrate its excellent performance by means of numerical examples.
