Abstract :
Adaptive filters are extremely useful for signal analysis. Using a time-frequency viewpoint, adaptive filters can be designed for short-term spectral analysis of signals. We use the short-term Fourier transform for a time-frequency analysis of auditory evoked potential (AEP) data. This data is characterized by a time-varying spectrum that falls into three distinct regions: early, middle, and late responses. We discuss the filters needed to do this analysis. We also show that these filters provide more spectral isolation of signals and improved interpretation of AEP data.
