Abstract :
The paper presents some results concerning the availability of the wind. The authors´ main idea is to consider the wind as a “repairable” system and consequently to estimate the probability distribution functions of the random variables: TBE - time between events and TTR - time to repair as well as their parameters. Depending on these type of distributions, a Markov or semi-Markov could be used for wind availability studies and the corresponding reliability indices. A case study is also included based on one year systematical measurement and analysis of wind speed in a given urban area where a new laboratory is located. This laboratory is dedicated to applied research and design of prototypes on renewable sources, especially for photovoltaic panels, heat pumps and wind for N-E part of Romania.
