Abstract :
A spatial domain interpolation technique has been proposed recently for the high quality restoration of missing blocks in images. An efficient implementation is presented here, which leads to a little more than 1 multiplication per calculated pixel. Moreover, it is shown that the multiplications can be eliminated altogether, if a slight loss in quality can be tolerated. The technique can be applied in post processing devices, in image communication terminals
