Abstract
The wavelet transform is a valuable tool in video compression because of its flexibility. Zhang and Zafar [1992] proposed a video compression algorithm based on the wavelet transform and multiresolution motion estimation (MRME), but MRME doesn´t consider the aliasing effects caused by downsampling in the transform. In this article, we use a special interpolation filter to remove those effects. The combined MRME techniques greatly improve the coding performance. Experiments also show subjectively pleasing reconstructed pictures
