Abstract :
The speed with which wireless communications have developed in the past ten years has surprised many in the semiconductor industry. Today, however, there is no doubt that communications in general, and wireless communications in particular, will remain one of the dominant drivers for the semiconductor industry. Radio frequency transceiver IC design has therefore taken a much more important role than in the past and the subject will continue to be of critical importance to the circuit and systems community. This paper addresses issues such as technology requirement, transceiver architecture, circuit topologies as well as the extent of integration, in the context of low power consumption
