Abstract :
The paper presents the application of the hybrid radiation (HR) modes of a microstrip line to the calculation of the resonant resistance of a rectangular microstrip patch antenna (RMPA). HR mode with phase constant β≈0 is chosen to approximate the EM field of the RMPA. Resonant resistances of example RMPA structures are calculated and compared with the results of rigorous analysis and experiment. Some conclusions concerning the usefulness of the approach are also presented
