Abstract :
In modern times an intensive development of different radiocommunication systems like cellular personal systems, has been noticed. The use of stratospheric high-altitude platforms as relay stations is being discussed by the ITU-R. This short paper presents the most important propagation effects in high-altitude platform links: the free-space loss, the atmospheric gas absorption, the attenuation due to clouds and the rain attenuation
