Abstract :
The paper addresses the problem of compensation of attenuation due to rain for a satellite communication system operating in the Ka-band. The structure of a fade countermeasure (FCM) system is proposed and simulated with the use of recordings of signal level during real rain events. Key parameters of the FCM system are identified and their influence on the system performance is examined. Selected simulation results of the performance of a videoconferencing system with FCM system are presented
