Abstract :
This paper describes the basic operation of the shunt connected thyristor switched capacitor (TSC) and the thyristor switched series capacitor (TSSC) and develops a basic model that is implemented in EMTP-like programs. Specific models are developed and implemented to run in the Alternate Transients Program (ATP), EMTP96 and EMTDC
