Abstract :
This paper describes the development of a tool to facilitate the formulation and implementation of innovation strategy. It integrates the functional stages of the innovation process with four suites of enablers, and also takes cognisance of the psychological attributes that are associated most closely with each stage. This process model is tied to four strategic perspectives, viz the individual, the company, the market (customer and competition), and the environment. The `innovation scorecard´ thus derived may be used to position the company appropriately, audit its capabilities, and develop measurable objectives and action plans. The paper also gives a brief overview of practical lessons learnt in the implementation of an innovation management initiative
