Abstract
A new method to decode digital information coded onto a chaotic signal is introduced. It is designed for large spreading factors. It is based on the ergodicity of the chaotic system. This allows a partially analytical analysis of the system. An example using a one-dimensional map is elaborated in detail. The performance of this example is not yet competitive with classical systems for an AWGN channel, but much potential for improvement exists. Multiuser communications are possible
