Abstract :
A fifth-order CMOS read-channel filter with a wide programmable/tunable frequency range is presented. The fully differential gm-C filter achieves a programmable bandwidth from 60 MHz to 500 MHz in 7 bands with an accurate on-chip tuning circuit which allows 10% variation within each band. High frequency operation and very accurate transfer function realization are achieved simultaneously by use of capacitance equalization and negative impedance techniques. This filter, which is realized in TSMC 0.25 μm mixed-signal CMOS technology, dissipates 142 mW with 2.5 V supply voltage and occupies an active area of 0.4 mm2
