Abstract :
The performance of switched capacitor based successive approximation data converters is limited by the matching of capacitor ratios. In previous work we have shown that switched capacitor ratios can be precisely measured using an AD-CRC. In this paper, we analyze and simulate the impact of the non-ideal amplifier behavior on the accuracy of the measured capacitor ratio. We derive closed form equations which describe time-domain relation between the specifications of the amplifier and the accuracy requirements. These relations are used to derive an optimal set of specifications for the amplifier in the AD-CRC
