Abstract :
Summary form only given. We have demonstrated an efficient, high-performance passive Q-switching for the alexandrite laser utilizing LiF:N/sub 1//sup -/ crystal yielding 50-mJ pulses of 80-ns (FWHM) pulse duration with efficiency (with respect to the free-running oscillation) of about 50%.
