Abstract :
This paper presents the results of a probabilistic assessment of Northeast Power Coordinating Council (NPCC) Area reliability for the year 2000. The annual Loss of Load Expectation (LOLE) and projected use of Area emergency operating procedures for the period June through August 2000 was estimated. The General Electric Muti-Area Reliability Simulation (MARS) program was used for the analysis. Base Case conditions corresponded to the assumptions presented in NPCC´s comprehensive summer 2000 outlook. Five additional scenarios, with two load shape assumptions were simulated for expected and extreme load forecasts.
