Abstract :
We are now storing more electronic information than ever and the volume of data stored is rising exponentially. Additionally there is a diverse range of technologies used to store this data. This has lead to problems of interoperability when exchanging data between heterogeneous storage ´units´. Many frameworks (mainly object-oriented) have been proposed as solutions and emerging technologies has meant that these solutions are revised regularly. In this paper we concentrate on the problem of transferring data between ODMG data stores and present a transportation model using simple, flexible technologies to meet this requirement.
