Abstract :
We report the fabrication of a highly nonlinear, polarization-maintaining, silica holey fiber with an effective area of /spl sim/2.5 /spl mu/m/sup 2/ at 1550 nm. Nonlinear switching is demonstrated in a 3.3 m long regenerative switch based on SPM with appropriate band pass filtering.
