Abstract :
We present the pump wavelength dependency of a S/sup +/-band thulium doped fluoride fiber amplifier by using a newly developed numerical model for the 1.47 /spl mu/m amplification band. This is for the first time to authors´ knowledge. The optimum pump wavelength varies from 1045 nm to 1070 nm depending on the operating conditions. Insights on the amplifier operation dependence on the pump wavelength and pumping power will be discussed.
