Abstract
The impact of polarization-mode dispersion (PMD) on four-wave mixing (FWM) is evaluated. A simple model is developed from the FWM transfer function on polarization states of the signals. The implications of the results on the orthogonal polarization launch scheme for WDM systems are also investigated.
