  • Abstract
A dual-polarized planar antenna composed of a microstrip antennadual-band antenna is used as an efficient radiator in the fields of satellite communication and remote sensing. One problem with such an antenna, however, is the low isolation characteristics of its radiator. In order to try to resolve this problem, a new type of dual-polarized planar antenna fed by dog-bone slots was developed and tested. The basic design technique and radiation properties of this new antenna are presented. Various experiments were carried out in the C-band to examine the performance of the antenna. Excellent return-loss and isolation characteristics were achieved using the antenna. Furthermore, the simulated results obtained using an IE3D simulator agreed well with the experimental results. Therefore, this type of planar antenna is considered to be an effective model for a dual-polarized planar antenna
