Abstract
A 62.4 GHz wideband channel sounder has been designed and implemented for use in characterising terrain and vegetation objects as well as mobile radio channels. The system is capable of having a resolution as low as 0.5 nsec. The system is positioned by using a high precision computer controlled rotary tables. Initial measurements at 62.4 GHz were conducted inside an anechoic chamber to characterise the scatter function from a single tree and to measure its attenuation as a function of its rotation angle. It has been observed that the attenuation due to tree rotation exhibits large variations that require further investigation. It has also been found that the scatter function peak appears at +80 from the line-of-sight direction
