Abstract :
Measuring at low cost cylinder peak pressure position from ion current is of great interest for internal combustion engine control This problem is one of indirect measurement. An attempt is made here to rationalize the conception of an indirect estimation process of a quantity of interest from observed data. Special attention is given to measurements in the context of complex physical systems for which the usual model-based approach seems unmanageable. For such cases, an automated parametric method is proposed. Our particular application and the results obtained are given as an illustration of these general developments
