Abstract
Dynamic dispersion compensation technologies are becoming paramount in high-speed WDM lightwave systems, operating at per-channel bit-rates of 40Gb/s and above. Tunable dispersion can extend transmission distances, mitigate nonlinear effects, and improve systems margins. The paper reviews a number of emerging technologies and considers system performance issues.
