Abstract :
We describe the first functional, OIF approved, SONET/SDH 10Gb/s interface optimized for very short reach (VSR) - typically <300m - intra-office interconnection of routers, switches, and DWDM systems. It is a 12/spl times/1.25Gb/s channel parallel optics solution, leveraging the low cost transceiver (850nm VCSEL), and CMOS (SERDES) technologies originally developed for Gigabit Ethernet (GE).
