Abstract :
Displaying a real 3-D object with the vivid depth information is always a difficult and cost-consuming process. Representing 3-D scene with Single Image Random Dots Stereogram (SIRDS) is another case. With a practiced method of viewing, depth dimension can be easily obtained without requiring any special instrument. Hidden surface removal is an important phase in the implementation of the algorithm. It makes the autostereogram (product of the algorithm) more “random” but more truly reconstructs real 3-D world. It also decides the speed of the implementation. The paper proposes a new hidden surface removal technique, which shows its advantage in the two aforementioned aspects compared to the predecessors
