Abstract
The integration of network simulation on-line supporting real-time network tuning and response to network faults is being explored. The overall impact is to provide a network that more actively adapts itself to the operational needs of the users. Value-added opportunities for on-line simulation supporting network management have been identified. A modular architecture for integration of COTS simulation with COTS real-time network management products has been developed, with variations and with specifications of some of the key interfaces. The architecture has been prototyped with multiple commercially available simulation engines
